(Just when I'm starting to feel better, my 10-year-old son has a 103 temp and tested positive for the flu!)

So when I did my massive Team Snitch fic rec post, The Fourth Deathly Hallow by Gingertart had not yet been posted to the Games.  I hate to say any particular entry is my favorite, but this one is definitely in my top five.  It has the perfect mix of plot and characters and imagination and sexual tension and - I could go on and on.  I may be biased, not because it's a fic on my team but because I love Sherlock Holmes.

It's a long one (56k words) but it didn't seem that way at all.  The merging of the two worlds is cleverly done, and the twist at the end -  I should have been expecting but didn't.  Just look at the summary as an example of what to expect:

Summary: From the private journal of John. H. Watson MD; not intended for publication. Being an account of the strange case of the Fourth Deathly Hallow; in which Dr John H. Watson and Mr Sherlock Holmes save a life, discover the true secret of Professor Moriarty, unravel a time loop or two, encounter a femme fatale, imbibe potions, break into and out of a wizarding mansion, hide in a male brothel, go shopping, track down a magical artefact, almost attend a ritual sacrifice, fail to be Obliviated and totally ignore the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy of 1692, all in the company of a lank-haired, irascible but secretly besotted schoolmaster, a bemused aristocrat and an increasingly perceptive and enamoured young hero.

It's truly an incredible  and fun story.

I think he said it was A? I know it wasn't the Swine Flu. I was too taken aback at his testing postive. It came on so quick!

Thank you so much - the happy thawts must have worked because my son is feeling much better today, and so far I'm not sick either.

It hurst so much to watch him be miserable like that, but thankfully he's much better today, and it looks like I'm not coming down with it either, which I was concerned about too. Kids seem to bounce back easier from these things than adults do...it's good to see you around still. I miss you. I've been trying to keep up with LJ but RL is just taking over or I'd be better at commenting on your posts.

I can only imagine how horrible it would be to watch your child be sick. I hope he's better soon.

Oh, I do miss you, too. *hugs* I'm glad I've relinquished reccing duties in order to concentrate on RL, but I miss the level of interaction that gave me with my friends. And don't worry about not commenting on my posts - it's not like I'm making posts of utmost importance. The most recent one was just pics from my latest hairstyle! Not exactly earth-shattering news. LOL!!!

It's no fun at all, that's for sure. He's actually doing much better, thank goodness. It seems that 1/4 of the school has it right now. I hope that doesn't mean it's going to be a bad flu season - it seems awfully early in the year for everyone to be getting sick.

It's funny - not only is he feeling good, I think he's on a medicine high! He's so hyperactive now, you'd never know that he's been sick.

Hope your son will get better soon. Being 10 and having a flu is the worst thing ever - at least it was to me at that age ;-)

We've never had to deal with the flu in our family before, but I'd always heard it's best to get it quick, so I took him to the doctor right away. They put him on Tamaflu (and dang, that stuff's expensive!), but by the next day, he was already feeling better.

Hope you're having fun on your holiday!

That's good to hear, that he's feeling better :-)

I'm already back and dang, do I wish it was longer! But that's how it usually is, I guess. Hope you're doing okay!
