First, a big thank you to

I just hate seeing this journal empty. I don't have time to import entries from LJ to populate it, so I thought I'd just make this litte post.
So does anyone know if importing entires will spam my flist/circle/whatever? I don't want to do that to people.
And until I learn about the circle/subscribe thing, I am just doing both to anyone I see who I know from LJ. I hope you don't mind.

Date: 2009-05-06 03:05 pm (UTC)Importing entries doesn't spam your circle...at least, I don't believe it does. It didn't when I tried it. I think it works like posting out-of-order. And it actually requires very little effort on the user's part. You just kind of click, enter your LJ and password, check what all you want to import (like comments, friends, userpics, etc.), and it does the rest ^_^
About the circle thing - granting access allows people to see your locked posts. Subscribing adds a person to your reading page. It just splits the two functions of friending someone on LJ into separate things. It's good if there's people you want to keep up to date on but don't want to be able to read your locked posts, or vise versa.
*removes geek hat - and let me just say that this is really sad because I actually do have black hacker hat*
Yay for you being on Dreamwidth! And sorry if this post gets a little TMI. I'm home sick and quite bored ^_^

As far as I know it's not spammy, it dates out of order. Though it's worth keeping in mind that if you used their crosspost feature, those entries will reblog also. But that's a matter of deleting the excess, and it won't be much since it's still so new.
Can't say a bad thing about their import system really :)

Date: 2009-05-07 07:05 pm (UTC)And that's cool that you're a RL programmer. My brother is a comp sci major ^_^ He gave me a crash course in Unix yesterday...I just think it's sweet that we have a server tower in our basement xD
And thank you, I'm feeling much better now ^_^ And I agree that getting out of school is nice - it's just making up all the work that sucks :p
