I've mentioned how much help my father-in-law has been during my radiation treatments, picking my son up from school.

He's big into genealogy, and recently sent me this news link for a talk he did.  His photo is in the article too.

A few years ago when my father visited here from Chicago, he and my mother-in-law accessed on-line copies of the 1920 census done here in San Antonio.  They found an entry where my father's father and grandfather had been staying in a rooming house here.  We hadn't even known our family had a connection to San Antonio.  I just moved here on my own in the 70's because I hate cold weather.

And - HAPPY DH DAY!  I'm going to see it at the Alamo Quarry Theater at 12:20 p.m. with [livejournal.com profile] winoniel ! I wanted to take my son but he's in school and I didn't think putting 'To See Harry Potter 7' on the early out form would have been an acceptable reason.  I'll be taking him tomorrow instead.

Have a great time at the movie! I go see it tomorrow morning. And how fun you get to see with it with a fellow HP fanatic! :)

That's an interesting article. Your father-in-law sure knows his stuff!

Enjoy the screening!

Hah, going to see HP is a perfectly good reason for the out early form. I remember going to the release of HP5 book (it was held at 6 am, and the queue was enormous at 5 am when I arrived) and after I got my copy I went straight to school. Of course I couldn't concentrate on anything and the day was so long until I got back home and devoured it in a few hours. Ah, memories!

Ah! Didn't know you were in SA. I visit every Xmas (my mom is there, went to HS and college there). Love the city, miss it terribly sometimes.

Was thinking about you the other day. Do hope you are keeping yourself as comfortable and entertained and happy as possible.

That's pretty neat! haha.. I always thought it would be cool to trace my family back, but I also think it'd be a mean feat.

And yay for HP7.1! I totally watched the midnight screening. :D

I enjoyed the article; isn't it weird that you ended up in a place where your family actually has roots?

Seeing the movie next week, I think. Once I took my kids out of school for something questionable and I worded it as a 'personal enrichment experience.'

It is a perfectly legitimate reason to take your son out of school! :p I would have done the same thing had I not gone to the midnights.
